Awakening to Hope
A Documentary film about Israel’s Soul-Seen Through Nahal Oz

On October 7, 2023, Kibbutz Nahal Oz—once a thriving symbol of Zionist vision—was brutally attacked by Hamas terrorists. The community suffered unbearable losses: lives were taken, families torn apart, homes destroyed. Several residents were kidnapped into Gaza—one of them is still held hostage.

Since then, the residents have been living in evacuation, carrying the weight of trauma while holding on to the dream of return.

Awakening to Hope is a powerful documentary currently in production, led by acclaimed filmmaker Ido Glass, a long-time kibbutznik and close partner to Nahal Oz. With unique access and deep emotional connection, Ido tells the story from within—through the voices of survivors, community leaders, and families.

This film is more than a testimony.
It is part of our community’s recovery.
It is also a vital historical record-preserving the voices, memories, and meaning of this moment for future generations.
